Symptoms of MS
Symptoms vary greatly:
- from person to person, and
- from time to time in the same person.
Symptoms might include:
- Double vision, blurred vision, difficulty with focusing, or uncontrolled eye movement
- Numbness or altered sensation to touch, heat, and pain
- Tingling feelings
- Complete or partial paralysis of any part of the body
- Shaking of hands
- Loss of bladder or bowel control
- Staggering or loss of balance
- Speech problems, such as slurring
- Extreme weakness, or unusual fatigue
- Loss of co-ordination
- Difficulty walking, stiff/clumsy legs
- Problems with short-term memory
- Decreased mental clarity, problems with concentration
- Mood alterations
Early Symptoms
...are often slight and go away without treatment. But as time goes on, they may become more numerous and severe.
Typical Pattern
...is a short period of acute symptoms, followed by easing or disappearance of symptoms for weeks, months, or even years.
Symptoms vary
...depending on the part of the nervous system affected. For example, MS in the spinal cord might cause weakness and numbness of the arms and legs, and/or urinary problems.
